Sediment in chenpi tea is not always abnormal. It can come from dust or pith particles. Here are practical checks.
Normal Causes
- Surface dust: Rinse the peel before brewing.
- Pith fragments: The inner pith can flake; filter or decant if needed.

Warning Signs
- Visible mold, off‑odors, or unusual discoloration.
- Fuzzy sediment accompanied by a sharp smell.

If you notice abnormal odor or mold, it is safer to discard the peel.
